About Us

Transitional Keys is an IRS tax exempt organization. As such, we seek and welcome tax deductible donations and grants to help support our educational, research and training work. A copy of our IRS determination letter is available on request.

Andrea Sherman, PhD

Andrea Sherman is co-creator of Transitional Keys ™ a groundbreaking program that uses elements of ritual to enhance the quality of life throughout its many transitions.

She is a nationally known expert in the field of aging and geriatric education, and is a regular presenter and lecturer on issues related to aging, especially on the role of creativity in aging.

Dr. Sherman is a Fellow at the New York Academy of Medicine and the Gerontological Society of America. She is a former Chair of the Humanities and Arts Committee of the Gerontological Society and is on the Learn Leadership Council of the American Society on Aging.



Marsha B. Weiner, MA

Marsha is co-creator of the Transitional Keys™ is a former volunteer non-denominational chaplain at a major New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center.

She has over 12 years experience creating content for diverse media including radio, television, print, and the web. The breadth of her creativity and experience ranges from products for the K-12 market all the way to the senior market.

Marsha has worked extensively with museums and educational institutions and has created innovative products well received in the mass market.




Paul Foldes, JD, BE

Paul Foldes has over 25 years experience successfully catalyzing numerous mutually beneficial commercial and noncommercial ventures. His successes have been advanced by considerable academic and practical knowledge gained over many years involving commercial law, finance and info tech.

A graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, he is a former Federal Trade Commission Consumer Protection Attorney and US Patent Examiner.

Paul also has considerable experience with the nonprofit sector through his involvement with several non profits in the social service sector, serving as an advisor and technical support resource regarding business, legal and technology matters on a pro bono basis.

Kevin Gormley, MA

Kevin Gormley, MA is an educational consultant, with extensive experience in curriculum development, marketing, program development and training. He has presented at numerous national educational conferences as a speaker and trainer and is a certified Kripalu Yoga teacher.

Susan Perlstein, MSW

Executive Director, The National Center for Creative Aging, Elders Share the Arts

An artist, educator, social worker and activist whose entire career has been dedicated to fostering community arts, Susan received her BA from Barnard College, MA from Columbia University, and MSW from Hunter College School of Social Work.

She has written extensively on creativity and aging and is currently developing national trainings for the new National Center on Creative Aging in partnership with the American Society on Aging and the National Endowment for the Arts. She has served as a consultant to the New York City Department for the Aging and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and has presented to a wide range of groups including the American Society on Aging, the Alliance for Cultural Democracy, Arts Partners, Generations United of America, and the National Endowment for the Arts.




Susan Willerman, BA

Susan Willerman has run workshops with people of all ages since 1976.

She especially enjoys the Reminiscence and Life Review work with Elders Share the Arts and has facilitated programs at a variety of venues such as the Bronx VA, numerous senior centers, hospitals and Brooklyn Public Libraries. She has presented for the National Center for Creative Aging at the American Society on Aging and has taught Professional Staff Development to teachers in NYC.

Susan works with many prominent Arts in Education Organizations in New York City teaching playwriting, preparing students to see theater and adapting children's books into plays. Susan is the Theater Instructor for the Coe College (Iowa) New York Term.

She is an actor, writer, director and long time member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre and the Actors Ensemble. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama from Carnegie-Mellon University.
